With all the madness of 2020 going on, we could all use some good news.
A common remark I get from long-time supporters of OCI is that they’ve been waiting for the results of any of our research projects to come to fruition. “How much longer do I have to wait?!” Research is not fast. It is a very meticulous process and for a fundraiser, that can be tough. BUT THERE IS GOOD NEWS! We have made huge strides in the last year and I want to share them with you. We are one giant leap closer to a healthier future!
Nanoparticle Drug Delivery:
Georgia Tech has finally allowed labs to re-open at 50% capacity. We have resumed the pre-clinical toxicity testing that we need to complete before we can apply to the FDA for human trials. We have also recently developed a new way to label the nanoparticles with a fluorescent dye that will allow us to track the distribution of the particles in the body.
We have improved the accuracy of our drug response prediction algorithm. This would allow doctors to identify what patients are most likely to respond to what drug, which would be a considerable cost-saving procedure in drug efficacy trials.
The validation data has been received by the third party who tested the samples. Once the OCI lab analyzes the results we will know if validation is complete or needs additional attention.
With a humble heart, I thank everyone who supports us. Whether it’s been for many years, one-time, financial, or non-financial. Anything. Your support makes this research move forward and we can’t thank you enough!
